Marty Morgan began his collegiate career at North Dakota State University where he won an NCAA Division II national championship as a true freshman. He then went on to become a three-time All-American, two-time NCAA finalist and the national champion at 177 pounds as a senior at UMN. In his junior season with the Golden Gophers, Morgan pinned 20 opponents to set a school record that still stands today. During his collegiate career, he pinned an average of more than one out of every three opponents he faced.
Morgan continued to wrestle after college, winning two Greco-Roman national titles and placing twice in the National Freestyles. He participated on two World Championships teams and one World Cup team. Morgan finished third at the 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials and captured second at the 1996 Olympic Trials. He also placed twice in the National Freestyle Open.
The former top assitant under coach J Robinson at the University of Minnesota, Morgan has now focused his career on being the head trainer for MMA star Brock Lesnar.
